Why We Need Change?
Of late, our representation in the NC House has been working against us, rather than for us. There are a number of bills being sponsored that are unacceptable and often pursued in the absence of any dialogue with relevant stakeholders. All of the details are available to the public at the General Assembly website. Some of them include
- Revoking a municipality's ability to control zoning permitted by state law and widely used by municipalities across North Carolina.
- De-annexing parcels from a municipality's borders.
- Removing county oversight from EMS franchises and lowering the bar for certification.
- Restricting a county’s use of North Carolina’s state-authorized tourist tax, then reversing course but with strings attached.
State Representatives have a responsibility to honor the people's will, not their own projects as representatives. My strength is being a long-time Servant Leader who leans into collaboration, understanding problems, empowerment, and service. Together, we can make a difference.
